Santo António!
Não há alfacinha que se preze que não goste do Santo António, das festas de Lisboa e dos Santos Populares.
A Teresa, com as suas Marioskas, teve o cuidado de nos dar a hipótese de homenagear não só o primeiro da fila, como também o S. Pedro e o S. João, nestas figuras tão giras e cheias de pinta que alegram qualquer recanto da nossa casa!

Pois hoje sendo o dia não queria deixar de dizer qualquer coisa, apesar de estar à distância.
Ocorreu-me lamentar-me por não poder dar o gosto ao dente a comer umas belas sardinhas com salada de tomate, ou de pimentos (ou das duas) mas, lamentações para quê?? Para o ano há mais e mesmo sem as sardinhas, fui-me lembrando de outras coisas de que gosto e que, por uma razão ou por outra vieram a propósito do que se faz neste dia.
Assim, mostro-vos um livro que o meu querido Marido me ofereceu antes de virmos para Londres e que hoje fiz questão de ir folhear, para confirmar que lá estavam devidamente assinaladas, as sardinhas e uma das melhores formas de as cozinhar.
... E sim, claro que lá estavam elas em toda a sua glória!
O livro em apreço - “Lisboeta - Recipes from Portugal’s City of Light” é lindo!
É lindo na forma e é lindo no conteúdo! É lindo em tudo e é útil que se farta!
As fotografias são fantásticas (Senhor Andrew Montgomery, o senhor acertou em cheio!), os pratos e respectivas receitas são de babar ou não fosse o autor - Nuno Mendes- ele próprio um Chef mais do que reconhecido (até com estrela Michelin).
A ideia subjacente ao livro, e que é a de o autor partilhar com o Mundo alguma coisa boa e portuguesa neste caso a comida, é exactamente o tipo de atitude que mais orgulhosa me faz sentir e que apoio o mais possível.
Levanta-se-me mesmo mesmo mesmo o ânimo quando vejo alguma coisa portuguesa ser enaltecida, apresentada com aprumo e qualidade e mostrada ao Mundo no seu melhor por isso, parabéns Chef Nuno Mendes e obrigada pela(s) receita(s)!
Palavra puxa palavra, ideia puxa ideia e já vão longe os limites a que me tinha proposto… É sempre assim!... 🙄
... de qualquer forma, última coisa a dizer: Não se esqueçam de oferecer um Manjerico àqueles de quem mais gostam!
Eu, na falta do dito (que por cá nunca encontrei), vou oferecer-vos um Manjericão, ou melhor dois que aos pares é melhor! 😅

Today, two words for you! … Or maybe a little more 🤔😉😅:
Santo António!
There is no self-respecting "alfacinha" that doesn't like Santo António and the portuguese Popular Saints.
Teresa, with her hand-made Marioskas, was regardful enough to give us the chance to honor not only the first saint in line - Saint António, but also Saint Pedro and Saint João, in these fab dolls so full of colour that lightens up any humble corner of our home!
For today is "the" day we celebrate our dear Santo António in Lisbon, Portugal, I feel I must say something, despite the fact that I'm not in Lisbon, nor in Portugal.
It occurred to me regret the fact that I couldn't give my teeth the joyful taste of eating some beautiful sardines with a gorgeouslicious tomato salad, or peppers (or both) because this is one of the must-do-things in this day but, what to gain with the complaining? The reassuringly fact is that next year there will be more and today, even without my whishful sardines, I started remembering other things that I like and that, for one reason or another, came to do with what we usually eat on this day.
As soo, I want to show to you a book that my dear Husband offered me before we came to London and that today I rush in looking through it, to confirm that the Sardines, and one of the best ways to cook them, were duly marked there - which they - of course- were!
The book in question - “Lisboeta - Recipes from Portugal’s City of Light” is beautiful! It is beautiful in its form and its content! It's beautiful, in everything! And it is tremendously useful too, with so many precious tips and recipes.
The photos are fantastic - Mr Andrew Montgomery, you've really nailed it!
The dishes and its recipes are utterly mouth watering because the author himself is a more than recognized Chef (even with a Michelin star) who had the brilliant idea of sharing and introducing to the World something so good and Portuguese, in this case, the Portuguese food.
This, by the way, is exactly the kind of attitude that makes me feel most proud and that I support as much as possible. It's really up lifting for me to see something Portuguese being praised, presented with aplomb and quality and shown to the world at its best so, congratulations Chef Nuno Mendes and thank you!
After a word, there comes another and an idea pulls other idea and, in the end, the limits that I had imposed to myself are already far far gone ... It's always the same... 🙄
... Anyway: Do not forget to offer a "Manjerico" to those you like best.
I, in the absence of it (which I never found here), will offer you a Basil, or even better: two! 😅
